This special Introduction to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an overview of our Heritage, Mission, and Spirituality. With a special focus on the tradition from the earliest days of the Vincentian Family to the practices of our Conferences and Councils today, both new and experienced members will gain new insights into the work that we do and the vocation that we share.

10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Introduction to SVdP (English)
This two hour workshop provides an overview of the Society and gives a glimpse of the Spirituality, History and Service workings of the Society. All new members, prospective members and those who would like a refresher are encouraged to attend. This is a temporary alternative for new members, who will still need to attend an Ozanam Orientation once those resume.

Este taller de dos horas proporciona una descripción de la Sociedad y da una idea del funcionamiento de la Espiritualidad, Historia y Servicio de la Sociedad. Se anima a asistir a todos los miembros nuevos, posibles miembros y aquellos que deseen un repaso. Esta es una alternativa temporal para los miembros nuevos, que aún deberán asistir a una Orientación de Ozanam una vez que se reanude.

Tom is a retired Air Force & Airline Pilot and have been a member of the St. Nicholas Conference in Gig Harbor, WA since 2011. I have been our Conference Treasurer and Conference President. I am presently the Tacoma-Pierce District Council President and Seattle Archdiocesan Council (Seattle ADC) Vice-President. I have been a Formator since 2013 and I am also the Seattle ADC Formation Chair.
Mary Ann Hunter - BA,MA,EDS - Retired as an elementary Principal in 2004. Served as a Principal, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent for ten years on the Navajo Reservation. Have been a member of SVDP since 2004. Currently am Treasurer of the San Francisco de Asis Conference in Flagstaff, AZ, District One President and oversee seven conferences in Northern AZ, and Phoenix diocesan Council 1st Vice-President. I am also an OFE Formator and Safe Environment Trainer.
Tom has been a Vincentian since 1998 and was trained as a National Formator in 2005. His most recent career was in non-profit management. He retired in February 2020 after serving 7 years as Executive Director of Friends of the Carpenter, an ecumenical ministry in Vancouver, WA. Tom is currently running for President of the Seattle Archdiocesan Council of SVdP, as well as working on Formation for the Western Region and serving as Chair of the Fundraising Committee for the St. John the Evangelist Conference in Vancouver. Tom’s wife Kathy is serving as President of the District Council of the Columbia River and they have two sons and two grandsons.
