AmPhil was conceived from the frustration of the consulting status quo and the desire to better serve the “little platoons” of society. We knew there was a better way, and we strive to provide that “better way” to our clients each and every day, and, in the process, build a freer, thriving civil society.
AmPhil was born as American Philanthropic, rooted in the fact that Americans are the most generous people in the world. They’re also, per Tocqueville, the most given to forming voluntary associations. Americans’ commitment to generosity and community has fueled the most robust civil society mankind has ever known. Today, that healthy civil society is imperiled by a societal bent towards tribalism and solipsism. American Philanthropic—now AmPhil—partners with other organizations committed to revivifying American civil society and reinforcing the American philanthropic ethos.
