9:15 AM - 10:15 AM Spiritual Retreat: "Mary in Vincentian Spirituality" (SP)
Rita St. PierreDuring a meeting of the Society on February 4th, 1834, members of the first conference adopted the proposal that the conference be placed under the patronage of St. Vincent de Paul. Frederic asked for a decision to be taken that the conference place itself under the protection of the Virgin Mary which was accepted. During this retreat, we will reflect on how our Mother Mary can nurture our spirituality asVincentians, always guiding us toward her Son.
Tim WilliamsSimplicity, humility, gentleness, selflessness, and zeal. You learned the list in Ozanam Orientation, and perhaps you can list them from memory, but why did St. Vincent consider these particular virtues so important? And how can we, in a truly practical sense, live these virtues in our Conferences, in service to the neighbor, and in every part of our lives?
Marge McGinleyIn this Vincentian journey, we often feel God is calling us to multiple things at once, as if we are being forced to choose between two or more good works. Discover how to combine our Vincentian Servant leadership, reflection and decision-making so that you feel confident you are responding to God’s invitation to serve in His way.
1:15 PM - 2:15 PM Keynote Presentation: "From Vision to Mission: Vincentian Spirituality as the Key" (SP)
Msgr. James Moroney, Pastor, St. Cecilia Church, Leominster, MA
Marge McGinley & Rita St. PierreAs Vincentians we are often pouring ourselves out in the service of God’s people. Come and learn how to care for our neighbors in need and remain content and gracious in all situations. Discover how to pour yourself out without wearing yourself out.
Tim WilliamsThe Society of St Vincent de Paul does not have spiritual directors, we have spiritual advisors, most of whom, like the rest of the members, are lay Catholics. So what does it take to fulfill this special calling as the “spiritual animator” of a Conference or Council? How do you lead a reflection? And what is a “formation plan” anyway?
