Shannon Clancy & Panel
Shannon ClancyCEO, SVdP Phoenix
Shannon has more than 30 years of experience working for local and national faith-based nonprofit organizations. She graduated from Xavier College Preparatory in Phoenix, the University of Notre Dame and has a Masters in Human Development from the University of Maryland at College Park.
A leadership transition nine years in the making came to realization on Oct. 1 as Shannon Clancy officially stepped into the role of Chief Executive Officer for St. Vincent de Paul Phoenix. Maybe most remarkable are the almost 20 years she’s dedicated to SVdP, many of which she spent leading alongside former CEO Steve Zabilski. From the moment Steve met Shannon, he recognized the exceptional person she is and envisioned a great future for her and for SVdP with Shannon’s gifts, talents and grace at work within in the mission.
Together, the SVdP family and community have witnessed that inkling of great potential grow into the nonprofit’s first woman CEO, who we are honored to have at the helm.

At age 26, for the first time in her life, Donna Beegle received stable housing for herself and her two children. Like 653,104 people without homes, her focus was on where she and her family would sleep that night. Gaining the freedom from unstable housing—combined with increased access to services and opportunities—enabled her to achieve a GED and, 10 years later, a doctoral degree. It also broke the cycle of generations of poverty in her family. In this keynote, Dr. Beegle shares how SVdP can address the root causes of people being on the streets and align with our neighbors to break barriers. Dr. Beegle, a former Portland Housing Commissioner and recipient of a Section 8 Housing Voucher, will assist participants with evidence-based best practices for creating a coordinated, poverty-informed approach to increase equity and build thriving communities.
Dr. Donna Beegle, Ph.D.Poverty Expert, Life-Changing Speaker, Recognized Author
Donna Beegle has worked for over 30 years with faith-based communities, educators, justice professionals, and so many more, who want to make a difference for those living in the crisis of poverty. As president of Communication Across Barriers, a consulting firm dedicated to building poverty-informed communities that are armed with tools to break barriers, she works directly with people currently in poverty, as well as professionals and volunteers who want to make a difference for those living in the crisis of poverty.
